Welcome to Frog Mountain Getaway

Come and experience Frog Mountain Getaway and Nature Sanctuary, our breathtakingly beautiful 41 hectare family farm nestled in an emerald valley at the end of a farm road, in the heart of the Langeberg Mountains of the Western Cape. Set on the Buffeljags river, we offer our six boutique self-catering cottages, so that young and old may relax, breathe fresh mountain air and restore the soul.

"Becoming the custodians of this unique, magnificent and magical farm in February 2019 was literally a dream come true! Our decade long search for the "Perfect Place" to live-in, grow-with, work from and protect, was not in vain. We never gave up and we believe we found it: Heaven on Earth".

Frog Mountain Getaway farm is a true nature lover's paradise, that touches the mountain, and "a river runs through it!" We offer a magical nature immersion, where you can wake to the sound of the birds, watch our beautiful Nguni cattle grazing in the green fields, explore the waterfall and rock pools, canoe on the Buffeljags river, fish in our dam, hike the mountains, and spend you evenings gazing at the miraculous Milky Way whilst listening to the song of the frogs and relaxing in your wood fired hot tub! Every season is full of beauty! Just being here is truly restorative!

Update: Since August 2024 Frog Mountain now proudly includes a 1/16th undivided share of over 2000 hectares of wild indigenous nature that stretches from our border into the green mountains. We also are home to two critically endangered Gladioli species in the Renosterveld section of the farm. And home to over 80 confirmed bird species for avid birders.

Perfect for: Couples, small families wanting a nature getaway with their children or larger groups celebrating an occasion. We can accommodate up to 45 guests, in our six private boutique self-catering cottages all set in an idyllic and breath-taking nature sanctuary.

Please note: We are a family getaway with a strict NO MUSIC POLICY! We are not a party venue, unless the entire farm is booked out. Family celebrations are welcomed, to enjoy quality time together in Nature.

We are pet friendly:

We allow well socialized doggies on the farm, with a maximum of 2 per house. We charge a pet fee of R200 per doggo per whole stay.

SPECIAL: We offer our guests who support us by booking directly here or via email, our famous MIDWEEK special, of book 2 nights get the 3rd night free. (Out of public and school holidays and T'c and C's apply).

All our six cottages are private and lovingly decorated, each with it's own indigenous garden and wood fired hot tub looking onto the fields and majestic mountains.

Our three small thatched rondavels with their exciting, cosy sleeping lofts for the kids, are one-of-a-kind and perfect fot couples or small families. All our cottages are natural sanctuaries of  beauty, with luxury touches such as 100% cotton linen, fully equipped kitchens, Smeg gas/electric ovens, electric blankets and indoor fireplaces for winter and many other extras to make your stay unforgettable. Our biggest 12 sleeper home is a fully fenced private luxury farm-house, with a swimming pool and the most exquisite view. We have something for everyone.

Come and explore our emerald green gem tucked away in a secluded valley just 18km outside the historic town of Swellendam and only 2, 5 - 3 hours from CT. Your kids will fall in love with our farm and all our special farm animals, making family outdoor memories to last a lifetime!

“Frog Mountain is still my absolute favorite spot for a family getaway, and my whole family always comes back rejuvenated. It just doesn't get better, and the only thing I dislike about Frog Mountain, is leaving it."

  • "Perfect for families"

We had an amazing stay - truly beautiful location, and the children and grown ups alike loved it. Brian was super helpful and friendly, helped make sure everything was fab. Particularly liked the foefie slide, canoeing and the waterfall walk. The pool and the playground are excellent, and the Nguni cottage we stayed in was lovely - basic, but very clean and a lovely braai area.

  • "Adventurous,profound appearance..."

What do I say about this place would be less for this. I think I took right decision of going here because of some aspects. There we saw greenry, valley and scenic appearance of everything, selfie worthy views we noticed. So guys don't waste your time in thinking, come here this is beautiful and the best place in this city.

  • "Weekend with friends and their kids"

Second visit this year and had an amazing time again. We booked up all the accommodation which added to the intimacy of Frog Mountain. Between us there were 12 adults and 11 children aged 2 to 14. There's so much on offer for the children in a very safe environment allowing them terrific "old school" freedom. We all enjoyed the facilities although the river was a bit too cold (but it is May after all). We enjoyed the comfort Sam's Place offers for gatherings and the seclusion offered by each of the different units. We were lucky and had fantastic weather so made the most of the waterfall, fishing, ziplining, etc. The only issue was Sunday arrived all too quickly. Can't wait to return again.

  • "Family and friends weekend end of March 2017"

We arrived at Frog Mountain. Incredible place. Lots and lots of activities for the whole family. The place is run very well and has an honesty tuckshop and playroom with table tennis table and board games. I would suggest at least a 3-4 night stay as its quite a drive for a weekend.

  • "Ideal holiday with children"

I can highly recommend Frog Mountain for a truly relaxing holiday: plenty of fresh air, grass and farm roads for the kids to run on (or for you to take your mountain bike out on), a river and swimming pool which are close enough to enjoy but without the constant drowning risk, a fab playground where the kids can entertain themselves, and cottages kitted out with everything you need. we've been twice now, and will surely make this an annual long weekend away. The hosts are also wonderful, and go out of their way to assist with your stay. Just perfect!
